He and his wife were alone with the group overseer and his wife LOL. No one supporting the group, and that was not an exception.
Maybe they knew he was coming, and didn't want to get stuck in his car group.
the secretary of the congregation said in a talk, what the congregation should have as goal for the new service year: attend field service meetings!.
he explained in a sad tone, that he visited all of our 3 or 4 service groups.
and what happened at the field service meetings.

i am still in & gradually fading.
i have always wondered why alot of jw's that i know are really into alot of sci-fi stuff like star wars, i robot, x-men stuff etc.
i mean they take it another level with this fantasy stuff.
We had a few elders in our congregation who were big time Trekkies, and many others, myself included, who were really into the Star Wars movies. It caused quite a stir when a speaker at an assembly mentioned Star Wars and Star Trek specifically as things that Christians shouldn't watch. Star Trek because it promoted evolution, and Star Wars because the 'force' represented demonism. I was already into my fade, so I just rolled my eyes.
i've seen him referred to as both on this forum.. did he sincerely believe that he was an inspired prophet whose end-time predictions and biblical interpretations came from god?
or was he just a shrewd businessman who saw a market of disillusioned christians who believed that armageddon was imminent that he could exploit?.
i personally lean toward the latter.. .

standing on corners holding up the awake and watchtower magazines?
all hours, all weathers?
street work reminds me of randy crawford's "street life" - i've modified the lyrics.... .
I always tried to avoid the more unconventional types of witnessing. I tried business witnessing once, and just couldn't do it. It felt even more intrusive than going to people's homes.
from from the very beginning, the watchtower has been wrong about every prophecy regarding "the time of the end".
they still continue to spout false information.. go out and preach before it is too late!
lol!!!
Except Cubs fans are far more adorable.
I bet Steve Bartman would disagree.
let me clarify, when i say aliens, i don't mean shiny helmeted spaceship dwelling anal probers.
(although i could be proved wrong).
if any alien lifeform was found on mars or another planet or even a comet, be it tiny bacteria or even some form of non carbon based life form, would that not destroy religions grip on mankind?
They already ignore scientific evidence that undermines their belief system. Why would they treat this any differently?
okay, so its no secret that many of us are hoping to see the downfall of the wtbts (or at least a mass exodous of jws away from them anyway).
i was wondering if you had any thoughts on what this might look like?.
we all know that most every jw has their doubts, large and small, but is afraid to speak due to the illusion of unanimity and self censorship .
It's hard to imagine that an organization like the WT can survive, or at least prosper in any meaningful way, in the information and technology age. I see a gradual reduction to mostly hardcore born-ins.
it's definitely on their minds.
i attended a funeral recently and a jw told me that the person who died almost made it to the 100 year anniversary of the birth of the kingdom.. curious what comments like this you've heard in your area?.
(and can't wait for november!).
I remember her telling me a few months ago this system wouldn't even continue on ten years. Let alone one more..
My parents used to tell us that they never expected my oldest brother, who was born in 1966, to reach high school, forget the rest of us. It's astonishing to me that so many JWs can still feel a heightened sense of excitement whenever a dramatic world event occurs, or some prophetic milestone seemingly approaches.
having recently been posting on a thread about ot moral values , which are not widely "appreciated " to say the least , i have been thinking about our modern morals about sex and reletionships , or more acurately the lack of any sexual morals todays .
i don't think that we are better off as a society which has gone so far to the do want you want , with whom you want and when you want approach to sexual ethics as we have .
i don't think that women are actually liberated by this attitude .
I don't think that we are better off as a society
We no longer condone slavery or mass genocide or instilling fear and superstition to enforce a rigid moral code. Yes we are better off.
i saw an online post with pictures of all the witnessing carts all around the 9/11 site during the anniversary of the tragedy.... im appalled at how opportunistic they are, and how they prey on people in a mourning and vulnerable state!.
apparantly they boast of: "there are 65 carts, with 200 witnesses manning the area... and so far 15 new studies started!".
.
Maybe the banner should say "3000 dead? Wait until you see what our God can do!"
